Loose Ends Newbury
Serving the homeless and vulnerable in Newbury
Due to the Covid situation, recruitment of new volunteers is currently ON HOLD, however, if you are interested in volunteering, please contact us in the normal way and we can begin the process once we are able to.
There are a range of volunteer roles at Loose Ends.
Are you looking for something worthwhile to do ?
Do you get on with people from all walks of life ?
Are you interested in helping with the serving of food during our sessions?
Do you enjoy cooking and baking?
Each session has a supervisor and at least 3 other volunteers. The supervisor is an experienced volunteer who has completed all of our training courses. We send out a regular rota and volunteers sign up for as many sessions as they are able to do. We do, however, ask that each volunteer is able to commit to at least one session a month.
Volunteers are asked to arrive 45 minutes before each session to set up and stay for about 30 minutes after to help clean down.
If you cannot help with our regular opening times, we also need volunteers to provide help behind the scenes with activities such as -
Cooking food in advance for Sunday lunch
Collecting food donated by supermarkets and other food outlets (usually during the week and in the evenings)
If you've answered yes to any of the above ... we NEED you !!
The quality and reputation of our services are due to the competence of our volunteers.
We offer training courses to all volunteers and some of these are mandatory depending on whether you have chosen to take on a role that includes the preparation of food.
